Job Description

United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Coordinator - Reliability Centered Maintenance at Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations. This position is responsible for coordinating and supporting maintenance reliability initiatives that improve equipment performance, reduce unplanned downtime, and strengthen preventive and predictive maintenance practices. The coordinator will partner with Maintenance, Operations, Planning, and Engineering teams to identify reliability opportunities, support root cause analysis efforts, track equipment performance trends, and promote consistent reliability practices across Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate the implementation of maintenance reliability strategies across Fairfield Tubular Steel Operations in partnership with Maintenance, Operations, Planning, and Engineering teams.
  • Support the development, execution, and tracking of reliability improvement programs and maintenance-related projects.
  • Provide technical coordination and follow-up to ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs, maintenance planning processes, and work execution practices support current and long-term business objectives.
  • Assist with equipment maintainability and reliability studies by collecting data, evaluating trends, and supporting the development of surveillance and feedback systems.
  • Participate in and help facilitate Root Cause Analysis efforts for equipment failures, recurring delays, and reliability concerns within a manufacturing environment.
  • Conduct field reviews of maintenance and operating conditions, document findings, and communicate reliability-related feedback to appropriate functional groups.
  • Identify operational delays, equipment performance issues, and repetitive maintenance concerns; coordinate problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Prepare and maintain reliability metrics, progress updates, and reports for assigned operating areas.
  • Support the development and optimization of effective preventive maintenance tasks, equipment inspections, and job plans that align with business unit metrics.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • B.S. in Engineering, 4-year Technical Degree, or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge in a maintenance environment is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in an industrial maintenance, reliability, operations, or technical manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, work order follow-up, and maintenance planning principles.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems, maintenance reporting tools, or related systems to track work history, equipment issues, and reliability metrics is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze equipment performance data, identify recurring failure trends, and support corrective action planning is required.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills with the ability to coordinate across Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and leadership groups are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • Knowledge of the steel making process is preferred.
