Registered / Certified Respiratory Therapist
Boulder Community Health, Boulder, CO 80303

$32.21 - $48.32 an hour - Full-Time Evenings, 36 hours per week
+$2.50/hr for evening and weekend shifts

Boulder Community Health is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist. The CRT initiates and performs basic and advanced respiratory care techniques and with knowledge sets up, operates and maintains various types of respiratory care equipment utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness. A CRT provides consultation and technical assistance to physicians, nursing personnel and other clinical personnel regarding respiratory care treatments, procedures and ventilator management.

Qualifications
• Successful completion of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program as required by licensure within 12 months of hire
• One of the following:
a. Colorado State License for Respiratory Therapist
b. Requires CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) with initial certification from NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) verified
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required within conditional period
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required within conditional period
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) encouraged but not required
• One year of respiratory therapy experience within a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities
• Performs physician or licensed independent provider prescribed therapeutic or prophylactic respiratory care modalities such as medications, aerosol therapy, intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB), chest physical therapy (percussion, postural drainage, suctioning), incentive spirometry, oxygen therapy, and others according to developed policies, procedures, and standards.
• Sets up, operates, and monitors ventilators under the direction of a physician or other license provider.
• The respiratory therapist assists the physician with intubation but does not perform independently.
• Assists with ventilation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation but does not perform intubation.
• Performs pulmonary function studies, ear oximetries, EKG's and initial orders within shift ordered, immediately on STAT orders. (After certified, draws arterial blood gas samples when necessary.)
• Writes telephone or verbal physician orders onto the patient's chart.
