Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:

Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR

A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
  • Performs facility-wide surveillance and data collection as part of an overall infection-control program.
  • Investigates possible incidences of infection and implements remedial action.
  • Works with the infection control committee and LDVA Compliance team to establish infection control standards and procedures.
  • Educates staff on how to prevent and control infections.
  • Informs the appropriate staff and state organizations of any reportable infections and diseases.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program.
  • Requires advanced education and training in the position's specialty area as required by regulatory mandate.
  • Reports to the Assistant Director of Nursing and/or the Director of Nursing.

Compensation: This position is eligible for retention pay (per hour worked) and shift differential.
