Provides specialized, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in the CVICU, including those undergoing pre- and post-operative management of open heart surgery. The RN is responsible for continuous hemodynamic monitoring, advanced life support interventions, and management of complex therapies such as intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Demonstrates expert clinical judgment and rapid response to changes in patient condition.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive care for patients before and after open heart surgery
- Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data and cardiac rhythms
- Manage advanced devices including IABP and CRRT
- Administer critical medications, titrate vasoactive drips, and support ventilated patients
- Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery expectations
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to ICU protocols and standards
Requirements:- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification (required)
Preferred Qualifications:- Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience
