Job DescriptionInova Fairfax Hospital is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated RN Unit Supervisor to join our EmPATH Psychiatric Observation Unit on the night shift. This is a full-time position with a 3 x 12-hour shift schedule (7:00 pm to 7:30 am). We welcome Registered Nurses who are enthusiastic about working with the psychiatric patient population and are eager to make a positive impact in this specialty.

The Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Supervisor serves as a front line leader who is accountable for delivering highly reliable results related to quality and best practices to improve the clinical operations of the unit. Embraces, uses and understands the research behind nursing practice and quality tools. Supports unit based shared governance and decentralized decision making structures and processes. Acts as a role model who leads by example in delivering "Service Always" and in making patient experience a priority on units of responsibility. Job Responsibilities:- Staffing
- Patient review and placement
- Serve as a resource to Charge Nurse and staff
- Responds to all events on units
- Assists with orientation
- Conducts chart and environmental audits per Joint Commission standards
- Coaching and education of staff
- Can act as Charge Nurse or take patients if needed
*Team members may be required to float to Behavioral Health Emergency Department PODs*Minimum Qualifications:- Certification - Basic Life Support; Completion of a revised Charge Nurse workshop within 3 months of hire
- Licensure - Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Experience - 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Education - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or Associate's Degree RN within 1 year of completing their BSN)
Preferred Qualifications:- Former psychiatric experience strongly preferred
