Full Job Description
  1. Work Schedule 7p-730a, every 3rd weekend requirement
  2. Competency in care of unit specific patient population; independently practices with solid knowledge and clinical skills; engaged in advancing own practice.
  3. Serves as a clinical resource for others.
  4. Applies and integrates evidence into practice
  5. Functions effectively in roles specific to unit, such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc.
  6. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care; independently advocating for patient/family needs
  7. Models practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely effective, efficient, equitable, patient centered care.
  8. Unit Description
  9. The 6th floor is a Surgical unit specializing in the care of the patients before and after surgical procedures. Also supports medical overflow.
  10. Ratio: 4:1 - 5:1
  11. The surgical patient population we serve includes but is not limited to:
  12. Hepatobiliary
  13. Colorectal
  14. General Surgery
  15. General orthopaedics (Total Knee, Total Hip, TMA, BKA, etc)
  16. Ortho spine
  17. GU (Cystectomy, Prostatectomy, Ileal Conduit, etc)
  18. GYN
  19. Head and Neck
  20. Overview of Department Services
  21. The 6th floor Team includes RNs, student nurses, PCTs and Exercise Technicians. We work closely with our rehab partners and have a dedicated therapy gym on the unit. Each service line has dedicated advanced practice providers as part of the surgical team to support enhanced recovery and complex patient needs.


Qualifications

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
  • More than 12 months nursing experience. Solid knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • Must meet all unit specific certification requirements: (PALS, ACLS, NRP)


Additional Information

Compensation:
  • Pay Range: $37.75 - $54.05
  • Other Compensation (if applicable): Shift Differential, This position is eligible for a $20K sign-on bonus
