Salary Details

The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITY

Eligibility for the post-basic training education is prioritized to applicants with approximately two years recent acute medical/surgical experience upon perinatal program full-time start date. Preference to applicants with high-acuity experience.

BCIT Perinatal Specialty Program

Online Theory (if required): Jan. 4, 2027 - Mar. 26, 2027
Full-time training at BCIT & practicum locations: Apr. 5, 2027 - Jun. 25, 2027
*course dates will be modified based on previous courses completed, VCH only funds for required courses.


Travel to lower mainland required during practicums (exact dates TBD). Travel expenses reimbursed according to VCH policy.

Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.

Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.

This will ensure that candidates are able to consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded candidates to complete. In the event that a candidate leaves the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they were hired or VCH in under 18 months, VCH will seek to recover the cost of the program.

Practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics for registered nurses as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a client and family centred care model and the vision and values of the organization. Provides advanced perinatal nursing care to expectant clients by conducting a comprehensive nursing assessment of the client and fetus and by providing nursing care to other assigned medical/surgical patients both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers. Demonstrates continuous improvement and best practices approach in nursing practice. Maintains and advances own clinical competence. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
