Qualifications

  • Valid BC RN registration with the College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Minimum of 2 years in medical/surgical nursing or equivalent training.
  • Post Diploma Certificate in Critical Care or Emergency Nursing preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required, ACLS certification or willingness to obtain within 1 year.
  • Demonstrated critical care or emergency experience on ICU and/or Emergency units.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate nursing care in accordance with current clinical standards.
  • Carry out delegated tasks and responsibilities from the Head Nurse.
  • Manage all critical care and acute care nursing equipment effectively.
  • Ensure the delivery of compassionate care to all patients.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members.

Full Job Description
Position Summary
Provides and coordinates nursing care with current standards of nursing practice and the Clinical Specialty of Critical Care & Emergency/Ambulatory Care Nursing. Clinical experience to independently work in ICU and Emergency is required. Responsibilities include designated tasks on the Acute Care Unit as delegated by Head Nurse/ in-charge.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)

Qualfications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.
• Completion of a recognized specialty program in intensive care nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to manage all equipment appropriate for the provision of care for patients admitted to the critical care and acute care units.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Ability to work well on own with minimal supervision.
• Ability to assist in orientation of new personnel.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
