JOB DESCRIPTION

Registered Nurse (RN) Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) Director

Job Type: Full-Time | Days

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

 

How you'll contribute

An RN Med Surg Director who excels in this role:

  • Directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objective
  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards.
  • Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact) and possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 7 days of hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of hire, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) within 9 months of hire.

  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Licenses: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.

  • Education: Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.

STRHS-Lawrenceburg, formerly Crockett Hospital, is a 99-bed, acute care facility located in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, 85 miles south of Nashville.
