About the Job
The Registered Nurse:
• Practices in a variety of clinical settings and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care
• Works in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Ensures the delivery of client-centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs
• Demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities
This is a Relief Full Time opportunity until November 7, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days, rotating from 07:00 to 17:00, 08:00 to 18:00, 09:30 to 19:30 hours.
About this location
Kelowna is home to the new Interior Heart and Surgical Centre (IHSC) at Kelowna General Hospital built in 2015. The new Regional Cardiac Revascularization Program provides residents of the British Columbia Interior with the cardiac care they need, right here in the heart of the Okanagan Valley.
Our team of medical staff in the Cardiac Program includes 5 Cardiac Surgeons, 4 Cardiac Surgical Assistants, 4 Interventional Cardiologists, 3 Electrophysiologists, 11 General Cardiologists, 6 NPs and more than 200 medical and clinical staff, including cardiac anaesthetists, perfusionists, clinical nursing staff, anaesthesia assistants and support staff. KGH offers a 20 bed Cardiac Telemetry Unit, an 8 bed Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CCU), an 8 bed Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU), an 18 bed Cardiac Surgery Inpatient (CSIP) ward, 2 Cardiac Cath Labs and 1 Electrophysiology Lab. The Cardiac Program is projecting approximately 170 TAVI cases this fiscal year which are performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
Qualfications
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area (Critical Care), one year recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment (such as CSICU, CICU, Cardiac Diagnostic Procedures or Cardiac Cath Lab) on a unit similar in size and scope to the facility, and as required by the practice environment successful completion of the recognized KGH Cardiac Course (such as Cardiac Surgery Advanced Theory or CCU); or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• BCLS within 3 years
