Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre-Assessment Testing to join our perioperative team. In this role, you will play a critical part in preparing patients for surgical and procedural interventions by conducting comprehensive pre-operative assessments, coordinating care, and ensuring patients are optimized for safe surgical outcomes.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment & Care Coordination- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments and interviews.
- Review medical histories, surgical plans, and anesthesia protocols.
- Evaluate preoperative testing and communicate abnormal or incomplete results to physicians.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patient screening, referrals, and surgical clearances.
- Develop individualized perianesthesia plans of care.
Patient Education & Advocacy- Educate patients regarding:
- Surgical preparation
- Medication management
- Pain management expectations
- Wound care and recovery
- Nutritional and psychosocial considerations
- Provide guidance on medications to take or hold on the day of surgery.
- Advocate for patient rights, safety, privacy, and dignity.
- Engage patients and support persons in care planning and decision-making.
Clinical Excellence & Safety- Administer medications safely utilizing the 8 Rights of Medication Administration.
- Implement infection prevention measures and standard precautions.
- Monitor and manage patient co-morbidities as appropriate.
- Maintain wound integrity and tissue perfusion.
- Ensure compliance with Universal Protocol, site verification, and time-out procedures.
- Demonstrate safe operation of clinical equipment and report unsafe conditions promptly.
Collaboration & Documentation- Communicate patient status effectively across the perioperative continuum.
- Deliver accurate and concise handoff reports.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Complete all documentation accurately and timely.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance reviews.
Qualifications- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- One year of pre-op, PACU, and/or medical / surgical nursing experience required.
- Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
- Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
- Specialty certification in Perioperative or perianesthesia Nursing is preferred.
