OverviewRegistered Nurse$46.70-$60.43 per hourThe RoleUnder general direction, the Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team performing a variety of nursing and client care activities designed to ensure that clients receive all necessary care in accordance with the nursing care plan, established in accordance with the agency policies and procedures, and standards of Nursing Practice. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You Will Do- Provides direct nursing care to clients, including comprehensive admission assessments, prepares doses for direct administration and dispensing of methadone and other medications, provides physician-ordered medical treatment, transcribes orders, and collection of specimens for laboratory analysis or culture.
- Performs and documents Nursing Intake/Medical History in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
- Provides health education to clients, monitors client behavior, and participates in treatment planning
- Prepares labels and take-home bottles of medication for self-administration by clients for periods when the medical clinic is closed or for clients who are permitted to self-medicate in accordance with agency policies.
- Records and reports any spillage that may occur while dispensing a patient's medication.
- Participates in the ongoing assessment of patients' needs.
- Follows protocols for methadone dispensing as established by OASAS.
- Performs physical count and tallies medication at the end of the day.
- Manages large inventory of controlled substances accurately.
- Completes daily and monthly regulatory reporting
QualificationsWho You Will Be- Someone with an Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- NYS RN licensure.
- BLS certification.
- Minimum of One-Three (1-3) years of demonstrated experience as an RN preferably working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Serious Mental Illness (SMI).
- Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG.
- Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs.
- Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR.
