Registered Nurse I:

$36.17 - $43.97 Hourly/$2,893.60-$3,882.40 Biweekly

Registered Nurse II:

$39.93 - $48.53 Hourly/$3,194.40-$3,882.40 Biweekly
Bilingual Incentive!

Bilingual Incentive Pay is +7.5% above the RN I or RN II base salary.
Position Description: Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I/II performs a variety of professional nursing and client care services to support the functions and operations of the Health Services Agency. Practice settings include primary care clinic, public health, mental health, and correctional facilities.

Examples of Duties

  • Principles and procedures involved with family planning, sexually transmitted disease control, maternal and child health, and child growth and development;
  • Maintaining significant flexibility in daily operations and decision-making;
  • Laws, rules and regulations applicable to nursing practice;
  • Community aspects of nursing programs.
  • Bilingual Candidates: Translate, interpret and otherwise communicate with members of the Spanish speaking community.

Education, Experience & Licenses

Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
  • RN I - Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in Nursing.
  • RN II - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a health related field. Two (2) years of registered nursing experience must accompany a Bachelor's degree in a health related field, other than nursing.
License & Special Requirements:
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Requires valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California.
  • Requires CPR certification.
  • Must complete periodic continuing education coursework as required to maintain active licensure.
  • Must possess, or be willing to obtain, national provider identifier (NPI).
  • Bilingual Candidates:
    • Must pass a written and/or oral bilingual proficiency test (or other appropriate test selected by the County) to qualify.

In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Registered Nurse I/II or Registered Nurse I/II - Bilingual, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.

Testing Dates: July 17-19, 2026. Testing will be provided via email.
Tentative Interview Dates:

Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 8:30am to 10:30am.2nd- Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 8:30am to 9:30am.

*Rates listed in this flyer represent a full-time employee's accrual rate and health insurance premium rate. Part-time employees will have pro-rated accruals and health insurance premium rates based on the number of hours they work.

This position is represented by the Local 39 bargaining unit.

SALARY:
  • Annual salary step increases based upon satisfactory performance and completion of one year of employment (Step A to E).

HEALTH:
  • Approximately 80% of the premium for medical, dental, and vision plan is paid by the County (EPO Plan). The plan covers the employee and all eligible dependents at NO ADDITIONAL COST!
  • Employee premiums are $234.54 per month as of January 1, 2025 and $266.97 as of January 1, 2026 for employee and all eligible dependents.

PAID LEAVES:
  • Benefits also include an annual paid leave plan of
    • 96 hours of vacation (increases upon continuous years of service)
    • 96 hours of sick leave
    • 14 paid holidays plus one 8 hour personal holiday
LIFE INSURANCE:
  • Approximately 80% of the premium for a $30,000 life insurance plan for the employee is paid for by the County.

RETIREMENT:
  • A retirement plan through CalPERS.
    • CalPERS Formulas:
      • Classic member = 2% @ 55
      • New Member = 2% @ 62
  • A Deferred Compensation retirement plan option with a County match of up to a maximum of $60 per month.
