Central Louisiana State Hospital located in Pineville, Louisiana is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our Clinic as a Registered Nurse Advanced Practice who provides advanced health/nursing care to individuals as an advanced or expert clinician.

The Registered Nurse Advanced Practice plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH's values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or a temporary permit.

NOTE:
The temporary APRN permit allows an APRN applicant to work in a limited capacity for up to 120 days while awaiting review for full APRN licensure by the nursing board. An APRN applicant cannot medically diagnose or medically manage patients until they are licensed and have prescriptive authority. If the APRN license is not received within the 120-day period and the permit expires, the employee must be removed from the position.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:

Under the direct supervision of the Medical Clinic Physician and Medical Director with a collaborative agreement, the incumbent of this position serves as a Family Practice APRN for CLSH. The Family Practice APRN is responsible for provision of medical care and the emergency treatment of patients on assigned units. This includes:
  • Perform physical examinations on all patients upon admit to facility and annually.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat and follow-up medical problems on patients.
  • Refer to medical specialists as appropriate for care.
  • Order laboratory tests, radiological studies, dental work, special diets and medications as indicated by patient's condition.
  • Closely collaborate and discuss patient's condition with psychiatrists and other members of the treatment team to help in the management of the most appropriate patient care.
  • Advise Administration of special health care needs of patient population and further advise as the requirements for contracting specialty consultations.
  • Regularly attend Medical Staff meetings as scheduled. Perform other duties as determined by the Medical Director. Serves as a resource for nurses and psychiatrists in regards to medical care of patients.

Appointment Type: Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Transfer

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Compensation: Registered Nurse Advanced Practice has a special entry rate (SER) of $4,389.60 bi-weekly

This position is eligible for Premium Pay of $8.00 per hour, and Longevity Pay up to $5.00 per hour.
