Full Job Description
Join the world class safety culture at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and be part of supporting the largest cloud computing infrastructure team as a Regional Safety Manager. As the Regional Safety Manager, you will own the Health and Safety function of your respective area as well as supervise a team of Health and Safety Managers responsible for similar daily safety functions.

You will be responsible for improving the health and safety of our data centers, advancing safety culture, and protecting our employees. Each day you will work with our data center engineers, the people who make the cloud go. They are working with electrical switching equipment, large scale air handling mechanical systems, and critical IT gear.

You will work closely with experts in security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources to further the global health safety program. You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our already strong safety culture. You will work in a fast-paced environment where our operations are rapidly changing, advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure, new tools, and new products/processes.

This role is for a qualified and experienced people leader. The primary responsibilities of the role are to own the safety strategy for a multi-cluster portfolio of ADC data centers and to manage a team of Health and Safety Managers across those sites. You will set the vision and define the safety strategy for your regional portfolio, design the right team structure and mechanisms to meet long-term business goals, and achieve consensus on priorities with senior operations partners. The ADC portfolio is in a period of growth, expanding across established sites and builds, so you will anticipate future growth and investment needs and build a workforce strategy to match.

You will have managed a team of safety professionals and will be able to demonstrate how you improved the performance of an existing team along with displaying skills in creating or growing a team. You will manage succession planning, hiring, coaching, managing performance, and promoting. You will be knowledgeable in US occupational safety regulations, including OSHA recordkeeping requirements (29 CFR 1904), as well as industry best practices related to hazard recognition and mitigation in critical infrastructure environments.

You will be part of a regional and global team that works with internal and external partners to maintain and enhance the safety of operations. Close collaboration with onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems is required. Additionally, you will work with employees and contractors to achieve specific safety objectives.

You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise, and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and in public speaking forums. You will write compelling strategic narratives, including QBR and operating plan inputs, and present them effectively to Directors and VPs. You will advise, instruct, and train company safety professionals, as well as operations personnel, on safety policies and procedures. You will also drive learnings from incidents to prevent recurrence across sites and raise the bar on investigation quality across your portfolio.

This role requires regular travel across a geographically distributed set of ADC data center sites.
