Job Description

Purpose

PerkinElmer is seeking a Regional Product Manager to support the commercial organization in the NAM Region and help implement the regional Inorganics strategy. This role coordinates between central product management and the regional sales and marketing teams - providing the product expertise, competitive response capability, and local market intelligence that the field organisation needs to win in customer-facing situations.

The Regional PM is the product line's voice in the field. They are the person a regional sales manager calls when a deal requires deep product knowledge, when a competitor launches a new instrument, or when a key customer wants to understand how the product line meets their specific application needs. They bring the centre's strategic thinking to the region, and the region's market reality back to central product management.

This role will analyze win/loss data, capture critical regional VOC input, facilitate demand creation activities in the region, track regional KPI's and drive financial performance and actions needed to achieve.

Responsibilities:

Field Commercial Support
  • Provide real-time product expertise to the regional sales team - answering technical and commercial questions, supporting customer demonstrations, and participating in key account meetings where product management presence creates commercial advantage
  • Lead regional competitive response: providing timely, accurate, and commercially useful guidance to the sales team when a competitor launches a new instrument, adjusts pricing, or makes a specific claim in a customer situation
  • Support regional sales management with product mix analysis, product line forecasting inputs, and portfolio utilisation data that helps the region prioritise selling effort
  • Participate in distributor management where the product line is sold through channel partners - providing product training, commercial support, and competitive tools

Launch Localisation & Execution
  • Lead the regional execution of global product launches - adapting central launch plans to regional market conditions, regulatory requirements, and commercial priorities
  • Coordinate with Regional Marketing Managers to ensure launch campaigns, customer events, and demand generation activities reflect the product line's commercial priorities in the region
  • Manage regional beta programmes in partnership with the NPI PM - identifying and engaging appropriate regional beta sites, managing relationships, and ensuring feedback is captured and reported to the central programme team
  • Deliver regional sales training on new product launches - ensuring field commercial teams can demonstrate, position, and close against competitive alternatives from day one of launch

Market Intelligence & Feedback
  • Serve as the regional intelligence feed to central product management - systematically reporting competitive activity, customer feedback, application trends, and market developments that are visible in the field but not from the centre
  • Conduct customer conversations specifically focused on market intelligence: competitive usage patterns, unmet application needs, pricing sensitivity, and regional regulatory trends
  • Attend and represent PerkinElmer at regional scientific conferences, trade shows, and customer events - gathering competitive intelligence and building relationships with key opinion leaders in the region
  • Provide the Strategic PM with documented regional input on product requirements, pricing feedback, and application priorities as part of the Customer Outcome Document and roadmap process

Customer & Stakeholder Relationships
  • Build and maintain relationships with key regional customers - particularly those who are opinion leaders, early adopters, or large-volume buyers whose satisfaction is strategically important to the product line's regional performance
  • Support key account teams with product-specific technical and commercial input for major tenders, framework agreements, and long-cycle strategic accounts
  • Partner with the Applications Scientist to support customer demonstrations, method development assistance, and application-specific support for key regional opportunities

Qualifications & Experience

Required
  • 5-10 years of experience in product management, technical sales, applications science, or commercial marketing within analytical instrumentation or scientific equipment
  • Broad working knowledge of at least one product line technology (atomic spectroscopy, chromatography, materials characterisation) and its key regional application markets
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively as a field-based specialist - managing multiple concurrent customer and commercial priorities, often with limited day-to-day management oversight
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - able to engage credibly with regional sales teams, distributors, and customers across varying technical and commercial contexts
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned region (40-50%)
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physics, or a related scientific discipline

Preferred
  • Advanced degree (MSc, PhD) in a relevant analytical or materials science discipline
  • Direct hands-on laboratory experience with analytical instrumentation in a research, QC, or applications environment - giving the Regional PM genuine field credibility with scientifically trained customers
  • Prior experience in a field-based role (applications scientist, field sales specialist, or field marketing) that required operating across multiple customer sites and managing competing priorities without close supervision
  • Native or near-native fluency in the primary commercial language of the assigned region (where English is not the dominant commercial language)

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $155,000. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
