Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families: The Regional Peer Practice Lead plays a key role in partnership with other members of Fraser Health Programs/Services and community partners in facilitating and promoting the meaningful engagement of people with lived experience of substance use (referred to as "peers") in harm reduction policy, program development, education, implementation, monitoring and evaluation within Fraser Health and partner organizations. The Regional Peer Practice Lead is responsible for delivering education, informing guideline and standards development, and leading or participating in clinical and advisory networks from a lived experience perspective. The Regional Peer Practice Lead develops, implements and facilitates initiatives to support program goals and facilitate and promote meaningful engagement with diverse people with lived/living experiences with substance use to address systems level barriers and improve accessibility, equity and effectiveness of health services and individual health. The Regional Peer Practice Lead facilitates peer advisory groups, workplans and initiatives aligned with program goals to promote inclusive engagement and improve access and equity of health services to enhance overall individual health outcomes for people who use substances.
Responsibilities
Working in partnership with Fraser Health Programs/Services and external community partners, develops implements and evaluates strategic plans, goals, objectives, resources and tools to incorporate subject matter expertise and peer involvement into program and service delivery.
Provides leadership in facilitating ongoing evaluation, assessment and engagement with partners including regional and provincial consultations, client and community advisory groups and strategic planning initiatives.
Functions as a resource and educator for internal and external partners with respect to Peer Engagement.
Coordinates and facilitates workshops and/or training sessions including logistics support, content development, promotion and evaluation.
Compiles, analyses and applies research and best practices required to advance peer inclusion and supports best practice innovation.
Working in partnership with other members of the team, leads evaluation, assessment and ongoing engagement with partners including representing Fraser Health at regional and provincial meetings, client and community advisory committees.
Identifies, orients, supports peers including identifying opportunities for and responding to requests for peer involvement in internal FH or community led initiatives. This includes recruitment and scheduling of peers, providing feedback and addressing any concerns with Manager support as required.
Coordinates payment for peers in collaboration with the program manager and related processes (e.g. stipends).
Ensures compliance with organizational policies relevant to peers; interprets policies for peers and advises of changes to policies.
Formulates new Peer Resources policies in consultation with the Manager and Harm Reduction team.
Develops and coordinates individual peer participation and/or advisory groups to facilitate input into policy, communications, organizational change and standards.
Supports the Harm Reduction program in subject matter expertise, peer development work, harm reduction distribution programs and overdose prevention sites. Acts as a resource for FH programs and staff regarding peer engagement.
Ensures the goals of the program are achieved and the evaluation process is established and carried out annually to measure program effectiveness. Develops feedback forms, ensures distribution and collection of evaluations forms, summarizes information. Conducts satisfaction surveys; obtains feedback and suggestions, compiles and distributes reports.
Prepares documents, letters, memos, reports, etc. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and graphic software applications.
Participates in team planning and quality improvement activities; attends meetings and in-services, reviews team policies and procedures, provides input/recommendations to others regarding efficiency of processes/procedures relating to work duties.
Maintains knowledge base on current developments and evidence related to peer engagement, harm reduction and associated best practices. Identifies community learning needs or opportunities with respect to peer engagement, develops and delivers associated training or provides necessary support to address this.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Training & Experience A level of education, training and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a related health discipline, lived and/or living experience of using the unregulated drug supply and/or harm reduction services, plus a minimum of five (5) years’ recent, related experience. Completion of leadership, mentorship or coaching education and development of or completion of peer-focused trainings are an asset. Valid BC Driver’s License. - Knowledge of harm reduction of harm reduction principles and practices.

- Demonstrated foundational knowledge of cultural safety, trauma informed practice, recovery orientated practice
