The Role You'll Play

DaVita Kidney Care is seeking a visionary, entrepreneurial, and passionate operations leader to expand our DaVita SNF Dialysis (DSD) service line to improve the lives of patients. As the Regional Operations Director (ROD), you will operate as a growth-oriented General Manager, leading all strategy, business expansion, and day-to-day operations across Texas (including key markets such as Dallas, Houston, and Austin).

In this role, you will oversee 15–20 Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) dialysis programs ("dens"), manage 100+ clinical and operational teammates, and hold full accountability for P&L. You will provide strategic and tactical leadership to field management across assigned facilities, ensuring safe, high-quality, therapeutic, and ethical patient care while accelerating the growth and volume of our on-site dialysis services across the region.

Several years ago, DaVita established this rapidly growing service line dedicated to transforming kidney care by bringing DaVita’s industry-leading dialysis directly on-site to skilled nursing facilities. By treating patients in dedicated "den" suites within SNFs, DSD eliminates the physical strain, expense, and logistical burden of transporting medically complex residents off-site. Working in close collaboration with SNF operators, local nephrologists, and regional health systems, DaVita builds specialized on-site hemodialysis programs that seamlessly complement outpatient, home, and hospital settings to ensure continuity across the care continuum.

Key Responsibilities & The Role You'll Play

  • Lead an Operational Powerhouse: Directly lead, develop, and inspire a team of 1-2 operational leaders and managers, providing clear standards, accountability, and coaching to ensure superior, compliant patient care across all SNF dens.

  • Drive Startup & Growth Strategy: Spearhead territory expansion, market development, and new SNF den launches. Partner cross-functionally with Business Development (BD) and regional leadership to pitch contracts to SNF operators, advance partnership agreements, and accelerate new site operational conversions.

  • Maximize Treatment Volume & Capacity: Drive patient census and optimize chair utilization across your book of business, focusing aggressively on maxing out treatment volume while upholding clinical excellence.

  • Full P&L & Labor Management: Maintain complete financial ownership of a $15M–$25M P&L. Meet and manage labor budgets, optimize operational expense (OPEX), and execute disciplined financial forecasting.

  • Executive & Healthcare Partner Collaboration: Serve as the executive operational liaison to SNF administrators, Directors of Nursing (DONs), Medical Directors, referring nephrology practices, and health system discharge planners.

  • Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict operational compliance with CMS guidelines (including CMS QSO-18-24-ESRD standards for SNF dialysis) and state regulatory requirements, partnering closely with Clinical Services (DCS/MCS) and parent hub facilities.

  • Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence: Review and analyze regional performance data, identify process bottlenecks, and implement proactive solutions to enhance clinical outcomes, patient safety, and service excellence.

  • Market Intelligence & SWOT: Maintain continuous awareness of regional healthcare dynamics and competitors, conducting proactive SWOT analyses to capture emerging market opportunities.

  • Live the Trilogy of Care: Foster a high-belonging, purpose-driven culture aligned with DaVita's Trilogy of Care (Caring for Our Patients, Caring for Each Other, Caring for Our World) and support our 2030 Community Care initiatives via DaVita Community Care.

  • Champion Core Values & "Get Stuff Done": Cultivate an environment that celebrates DaVita's 7 Core Values (Service Excellence, Integrity, Team, Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Fulfillment, and Fun) and rewards high performance.

What We Are Looking For

Our most meaningful resource is your passion, strategic vision, and executive leadership. If you thrive in a high-growth, entrepreneurial healthcare environment and possess the grit to build scalable operations while elevating those around you, we want to hear from you.

Qualifications & Demonstrated Success:

  • Multi-Site Operational Leadership: Demonstrated success leading multi-site healthcare, clinical, or complex multi-unit operations with full P&L accountability.

  • Growth & General Management Mindset: Proven track record of scaling a business line, driving volume/census growth, launching new sites, or managing commercial healthcare partnerships.

  • People Leadership & Accountability: Experience leading, mentoring, and unifying geographically dispersed teams, holding direct reports accountable to operational metrics and cultural standards.

  • Executive Stakeholder Management: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills with experience influencing C-suite healthcare executives, nursing home administrators, and physicians.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (MBA or MHA) preferred.

  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel 25%–50% (including moderate overnight travel across Texas).

  • Culture & Value Alignment: Demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership, patient-first care, teammate development, and a healthy competitive drive to achieve excellence.
