Salary: $3,333.64 Bi-weekly. (Salary commensurate with knowledge and experience.) (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee's current rate, whichever is higher.)

DESCRIPTION:

This position completes advanced-level independent work. It requires extensive knowledge of counseling techniques, work principles and practices. It reports to the Office of Health Services Director of Mental Health and Substance Services who oversees the section.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists programs who are experiencing a high volume of complex youth with behavior modification needs. Assists with general wellness practices for employees and is a liaison to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), when applicable. Assists with the development of policies and interpretive guidelines relating to mental health substance abuse treatment services provided to DJJ employees. Maintains liaison with public and private agencies that impact the department's mental health services and substance abuse services delivery system. Participates in workgroups, committees, councils to represent the department and the Office of Health Services on such workgroups. Research current clinical professional development and disseminates appropriate and timely information to mental health and substance abuse staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to organize work, coordinate with others as necessary, and work independently.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and the creation of Power Point presentations.

Ability to communicate effectively with strong verbal and written communication skills including public speaking.

Ability to conduct research and formulate policy recommendations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure as a psychologist under Chapter 490, F.S., or Licensure as a mental health counselor, clinical social worker or marriage and family therapist under Chapter 491, F.S., is required.

Current Department of Juvenile Justice employee.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A doctoral degree or master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, counseling or clinical social work is required.

At least two years of clinical experience in delivery of mental health and substance abuse services preferably associated with youth correctional facilities.

Experience in trauma treatment and informed care, gender specific services and behavioral therapy within juvenile justice settings, as well as substance abuse therapy and treatment.

TRAVEL:

This position requires traveling across the state to provide training and technical assistance in DJJ facilities and programs, as needed.
