Description

The Regional Intake Director is responsible for providing oversight, leadership, and performance management for the regional intake team who supports admissions for multiple facilities within the designated region. This role closely partners with facility leadership in support of census goals and ensuring consistent admission practices across all facilities. The Director must be able to report to any of the designated facilities in the region within three hours of notification when onsite leadership or support is required.

Essential Functions:
  1. Coaching and developing all regional intake staff.
  2. Responsible for assisting with recruitment and onboarding new regional intake employees.
  3. Responsible for the regional intake department schedule and adequate coverage needs.
  4. Conducts site visits as necessary.
  5. Monitors key performance indicators of the team and individual employees: referral response times, conversion, call quality.
  6. Oversees regional intake employees-training on all processes and procedures; ensuring staff competency.
  7. Daily data analysis and reporting with recommendations on quality improvement.
  8. Audits referral data completion in the EMR system and coaches staff when necessary to improve performance.
  9. Attends Flash daily for all assigned facilities as an active member of the leadership team.
  10. Implements best practices related to bed management and patient placement strategies.
  11. Routinely monitors any barriers to admission and offers recommendations for process improvement.
  12. Demonstrates flexibility by working as a Regional Intake Clinician as necessary.
  13. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, RN or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in Behavioral Health field preferred.
  • At least three years experience in behavioral healthcare, experience with crisis management, intake or inpatient psychiatric treatment preferred.
  • Leadership experience, behavioral health operations experience, and the ability to manage multiple facilities in a fast-paced environment is preferred.

Qualifications / Skills:
  • Understands admission criteria for varying levels of care, medications commonly prescribed for treatment of psychiatric illness and community resources.
  • Interprets medical clearance and is able to discern acutely medical inappropriate values and how they should be addressed to be able to consider for admission. Must possess interpersonal skills to develop rapport with presenting patient, family members and referral sources.
  • Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's needs and provide appropriate referrals, including age related care and disability related care by Chronically Mentally Ill, Adult, Geriatric and Chemically Dependent patient populations.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of mental illness and chemical dependency and family dynamics which accompany them. Must have excellent communication skills related to age specific patient needs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficient assessment skills.
  • Must be versatile, flexible and able to perform in stressful situations.
  • Must have good time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work with an array of mentally/physically disabled persons.
  • Must be able to read, to write and to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Must be knowledgeable concerning DSM-V diagnosis.
  • Must be able to deliver patient services in a respectful manner which promotes dignity and patient satisfaction.
  • Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Work Environment:
  • Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. This person might sometimes experience disagreeable odors, sights, and/or unpredictable patient behavior. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Regular travel between designated facilities within the region is required.
