The Finance Manager, Transportation serves as a key business partner to the Safety-Kleen Sustainability Solutions (SKSS) Transportation organization, providing financial leadership, strategic insight, and decision support to drive business performance and profitable growth.

This role requires a strong combination of analytical capability and business acumen. The successful candidate must be able to navigate large, complex data sets, identify key drivers and trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership. In addition to delivering accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, the Finance Manager will provide value-added analysis that supports operational and strategic decision-making across the transportation network.

The Finance Manager will work closely with Transportation and Segment leadership teams, influence outcomes through cross functional collaboration, and effectively manage processes and deliverables performed by offshore finance resources. This is a highly visible role requiring strong communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to manage upward while supporting senior leaders in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Performance Management
  • Lead the monthly close, forecasting, and annual budgeting planning processes for Transportation Finance.
  • Monitor and analyze transportation expenses, operational metrics, and key performance indicators to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting packages.
  • Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP requirements.


Business Partnership & Decision Support
  • Serve as the primary finance partner to Transportation and Segment leadership teams.
  • Provide fact-based analysis and recommendations that support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into meaningful business insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate initiatives, address accounting and financial questions through research and reconciliations, as well as cost optimization efforts.
  • Anticipate leadership needs and proactively provide guidance on financial risks, opportunities, and business performance.


Data Analytics & Reporting
  • Analyze large and complex data sets from multiple systems to identify trends, root causes, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and financial models that improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Utilize advanced Excel, ERP systems, and business intelligence tools to streamline reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial and operational data.


Leadership & Process Management
  • Lead financial processes across Transportation Finance, ensuring high-quality and timely deliverables.
  • Coordinate and oversee work performed by offshore finance resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on standardization, automation, reporting efficiency, and internal controls.
  • Influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in finance and accounting functions in a medium to large sized company with 7-10 years of experience overall.
  • Possess general accounting and financial analysis experience and skills; cost accounting experience helpful
  • Proven information systems/accounting software and Excel skills
  • Demonstrated skills to include: Analytical, communication, presentation, teamwork, self-starter, ability to work independently and organizational skills
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA or CPA preferred
