How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Air Liquide Canada is seeking a Manager, Engineering for the Regional of Western Canada and our Filling Plants. Based in Calgary, this is a critical role focused on analyzing and enhancing our regional filling processes and operational workflows. You will be the driving force behind our continuous improvement initiatives, responsible for identifying inefficiencies, designing innovative solutions, and managing projects that boost productivity, ensure compliance, and reduce costs. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong analytical mindset.



  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing gas filling, handling, and distribution processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. Develop and implement data-driven strategies to increase throughput, reduce cycle times, and minimize product loss.
  • Lead engineering projects from concept to completion. This includes developing project scopes, creating budgets, managing timelines, and overseeing the installation and commissioning of new equipment or modified systems.
  • Technical Design & Analysis: Prepare engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for process modifications. Perform calculations and simulations to validate proposed changes and ensure they meet performance and safety standards.
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion a world-class safety culture. Ensure all process improvements and plant operations adhere to provincial regulations (e.g., ABSA, OHS), industry codes (e.g., CSA standards), and internal safety protocols. Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and contribute to risk assessments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement and sustain methodologies like Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen. Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor process performance and effectively report on project outcomes to the leadership team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with plant operators, maintenance teams, and management to gather insights, build consensus, and successfully implement changes on the plant floor.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Required: Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA and in good standing.
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a process manufacturing, industrial plant, or production environment.
  • Direct experience in the compressed gas, cryogenics, chemical processing, or oil and gas industry is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated success in leading process improvement projects with measurable results in efficiency, safety, or cost savings.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, pressure vessels, and piping systems.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD or similar CAD programs. Experience with process simulation software is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
