This role goes beyond compliance oversight and serves as a strategic partner to operations leadership, building site capability, driving systemic risk reduction, and ensuring EHS is fully integrated into how the business operates.

The Regional EHS Manager develops and coaches site EHS leaders, strengthens technical and leadership capability across the region, and ensures consistent execution of enterprise EHS standards while enabling operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Leadership & Site Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop site EHS Managers to strengthen technical expertise, leadership effectiveness, and business influence
  • Build organizational capability by ensuring sites can independently identify, assess, and reduce risk
  • Serve as a mentor and escalation point for complex EHS challenges
  • Drive consistency in expectations, prioritization, and execution across all sites

Strategy Deployment & System Integration
  • Translate corporate EHS strategy into clear regional priorities and executable plans
  • Ensure EHS systems, standards, and tools are effectively deployed and integrated into site operations
  • Drive alignment between safety, operational, and business objectives
  • Ensure safety is embedded into capital planning, engineering design, and operational processes

Risk Reduction & Technical Excellence
  • Ensure a disciplined, data-driven approach to hazard identification and risk prioritization across sites
  • Elevate focus on engineering and systems-based solutions over administrative controls
  • Provide guidance on complex regulatory, industrial hygiene, process safety, and environmental risks
  • Ensure consistent application of the hierarchy of controls across the region

Performance Management & Data Utilization
  • Analyze regional performance trends (injuries, near misses, audits, exposures, compliance metrics)
  • Establish clear targets aligned with corporate goals
  • Use data and leading indicators to proactively identify gaps and drive action
  • Hold sites accountable for performance and sustainable corrective action completion

Audit, Governance & Compliance Assurance
  • Ensure robust audit systems are in place to assess both compliance and system effectiveness
  • Validate the quality of incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Ensure timely closure of corrective actions that address systemic issues
  • Minimize regulatory risk by ensuring sites always maintain audit-ready processes

Operational Partnership & Change Leadership
  • Partner with Operations leadership to balance safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Influence decision making by clearly communicating risk and operational impact
  • Lead and support change management efforts related to new processes, equipment, and business initiatives
  • Ensure EHS considerations are proactively addressed, not reactively managed

Continuous Improvement & Standardization
  • Identify systemic gaps and drive standardization across sites where it improves performance
  • Champion Lean EHS principles to eliminate waste and reduce variation
  • Lead or support regional and corporate EHS improvement initiatives
  • Share best practices and scale successful solutions across the network

Job Requirements:
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority, driving alignment on safety and process improvement initiatives
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to clearly translate complex processes into understandable procedures and training materials
  • Proven capability to collect, interpret, and leverage data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to periodically travel to support cross functional auditing

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of EHS experience, including multi-site or regional responsibility
  • Experience leading and developing EHS professionals
