A Typical Day

The Regional Director is the senior supply chain director accountable for strategy, operational performance, and continuous improvement across multiple acute care hospitals, specialty centers, and affiliated sites within an assigned market.Reporting to the Vice President, this leader bridges facility level execution with enterprise supply chain plans ensuring all sites operate in alignment with RWJBH enterprise strategies, clinical priorities, financial targets, and regulatory standards.This role serves as the primary point of accountability for market wide supply chain outcomes, acting as subject-matter expert, escalation point, and project lead while maintaining direct oversight of day-to-day operations across all assigned facilities.The Regional Director partners with facility executives, clinical leadership, finance, and corporate supply chain to drive standardization, cost reduction, and operational excellence at scale.

• Set and execute enterprise supply chain strategy aligned with RWJBH system goals; translate corporate direction into facility-level operations across all assigned sites, including serving in an acting facility director or project coordinator capacity as needed
• Maintain multi hospital direct oversight of all day-to-day supply chain operations including procurement, distribution, receiving, inventory management, and materials handling
• Ensure efficiency, accuracy, and service continuity across the assigned market
• Own market-wide KPIs, performance targets, and Supply Chain goals; conduct regular on-site visits, work with Site Supply Chain Director to develop corrective action plans for any metric falling below threshold, and report results to the VP of Supply Chain and senior leadership
• Drive performance through data-driven analysis
• Identify and execute savings opportunities in coordination with the Clinical Resource Director (CRD) and value analysis team
• Lead clinical collaboration with CRDs to advance product standardization, manage substitutions, and backorder resolutions, and ensure all supply decisions reflect clinical efficacy and organizational approval
• Serve as subject matter expert and system champion for PeopleSoft, Greenlight, Tableau, Contraxx, and Green Security; drive ERP adoption, support end-user training, and identify technology and analytics opportunities that improve operational visibility and decision-making
• Ensure rigorous inventory integrity across all facilities: manage sourcing, stocking, replenishment, and rotation; coordinate annual counts and perpetual reconciliation; enforce consignment policy compliance; and enforce documented storeroom rounding to maintain safety, expiration, and space standards
• Maintain full regulatory and policy compliance across all market facilities, including Joint Commission, CMS, and state requirements; oversee supply onitoring via ECRI, tissue tracking per policy, and annual review of all supply chain policies and procedures
• Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of Site Supply Chain Directors, managers, coordinators, and technicians; foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, and operational accountability through regular huddles, team meetings, onboarding, and performance management
• Maintain a structured stakeholder engagement cadence with facility finance officers, nursing leadership, surgical services, and department heads; serve as the bridge between frontline supply chain operations and executive leadership, ensuring transparent communication on challenges, priorities, and performance
• Coordinate corporate-driven bulk purchases, renovation and construction supply planning, and new service line activations; ensure coverage for facility supply chain leaders during absences and deploy training and implementation support across the market as needed
• Champion a culture of operational discipline: ensure ordering practices minimize STAT requisitions through sound inventory management; enforce adherence to all RWJBH supply chain policies; and maintain 24/7 availability via RWJBH-issued cell phone to respond to supply disruptions and emerging operational needs

To Be Considered

• Education Required: Bachelors degree
• Education Preferred: Masters degree

Experience Required:

• Minimum 5 years of progressive hospital supply chain leadership, including at least 3 years managing multiple sites or facilities within an acute care or IDN environment
• Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable cost savings, contract compliance improvements, and KPI performance gains across a complex healthcare network
• Experience with GPO contract management, vendor management, value analysis processes, and procure-to-pay operations,

Experience Preferred:

• 10 years of multi-facility or IDN-level hospital supply chain oversight, with exposure to diverse facility types including trauma centers, surgical facilities, oncology, and pediatric settings
• Prior involvement in ERP implementations or large-scale system migrations; familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
• AHRMM, CSCP, CPSM, or equivalent professional supply chain certification
