Summary

Ashley Furniture is seeking a Regional Director, Final Mile to lead Home Delivery performance across a multi-site network of approximately 5-10 locations. This leader will be responsible for overall transportation and final mile delivery execution, including safety, service, cost, customer satisfaction, transportation capacity, and operational performance.

The Regional Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for both company-operated and third-party transportation teams while partnering closely with local site leadership, customer care, supply chain, finance, human resources, and senior leadership teams.

This role requires a highly visible leader who can drive consistent execution, develop high-performing teams, improve operating results, and deliver a best-in-class customer experience.

Responsibilities

Transportation & Regional Operations Leadership

  • Lead transportation and home delivery operations across multiple locations within an assigned region.
  • Drive performance across key metrics including on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, safety, transportation cost, delivery productivity, claims, and service quality.
  • Ensure consistent operational standards, policies, and best practices are executed throughout the region.
  • Partner with site leadership to optimize route planning, scheduling, dispatch operations, fleet readiness, and delivery execution.
  • Identify operational risks and proactively address service disruptions, capacity constraints, and performance gaps.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety requirements, and company policies.


Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop transportation and delivery leaders across the region.
  • Build accountability through performance management, leadership routines, and operational reviews.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support recruiting, onboarding, development, succession planning, and retention strategies.
  • Foster a culture focused on safety, customer service, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach leaders to improve team performance, engagement, and overall operational effectiveness.


Third-Party Carrier Management

  • Manage transportation providers and delivery partners to ensure service, capacity, quality, and cost expectations are achieved.
  • Establish performance expectations through scorecards, business reviews, audits, and corrective action plans.
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams regarding carrier selection, contract management, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Resolve escalated service, billing, compliance, and customer-related issues involving transportation partners.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen transportation coverage and improve partner performance across the region.


Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze transportation and delivery performance data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement action plans that improve safety, service, productivity, and financial performance.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives focused on delivery execution, route optimization, labor efficiency, transportation costs, and customer experience.
  • Present business results, performance trends, and key initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Drive adoption of best practices and standard operating procedures across all assigned locations.


Customer Experience

  • Ensure delivery operations consistently provide a professional and customer-focused experience.
  • Partner with Customer Care, Retail Operations, and Distribution teams to address escalated customer concerns and service issues.
  • Improve delivery communications, service recovery processes, claims management, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor customer feedback trends and implement corrective actions to improve regional performance.


Financial & Resource Management

  • Lead regional transportation budgets and cost management initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in route productivity, labor utilization, transportation efficiency, and cost per delivery.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations leadership to manage budgets, forecast performance, and execute cost-control strategies.
  • Support network planning, growth initiatives, and transportation capacity planning efforts.
  • Balance service, cost, and operational requirements to achieve company objectives.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence throughout the region.


Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years of transportation, logistics, final mile delivery, distribution, or field operations experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing leaders and/or multi-site operations.
  • Experience leading both company-operated and third-party transportation networks.
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations, dispatch, routing, customer delivery experience, fleet management, and safety compliance.
  • Proven ability to improve operational performance across multiple locations.
  • Experience managing budgets, labor planning, transportation costs, and vendor performance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, influence, and relationship-building abilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in furniture, appliance, retail, e-commerce, or large-item home delivery environments.
  • Multi-site transportation or final mile leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), routing platforms, and operational dashboards.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience leading operational turnaround, transformation, or network optimization initiatives.


Work Environment:

This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
