Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Design Manager in the delivery of transportation design build projects across the Northeast for large and mid-size construction. May mentor junior employees, assist with work planning, technical design management and oversight, project delivery, quality management, contract administration, change management, and risk management. This position can be based in Albany, NY, Burlington, MA or Boston, MA and will require the ability to travel regionally as needed.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to initiatives to help advance our project design, operations, and business development
  • Work in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company health, safety and security guidelines and policies
  • Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider
  • Manage specific task groups or discipline areas within projects and ensure deliverables are produced on time and to quality standards.
  • Assist in establishing project objectives, procedures, and performance standards
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams on major) projects from positioning to proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services
  • Perform internal quality reviews and constructability checks prior to submission to clients.
  • Track and report on progress of design packages, schedules, and budgets under the guidance of the Design Manager.
  • Provide technical leadership on assigned portions of major projects and act as secondary support for client interactions, escalating to the Design Manager as appropriate.
  • Assist with risk and change management tracking, supporting the Design Manager in implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Act as a mentor to junior engineers and designers by providing guidance and technical direction.
  • Support efforts to grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec's reputation and assist with talent recruitment.
  • Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management and quality management


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience serving as a Deputy Design Manager or in a design coordination role on large, complex transportation projects. Experience in the preparation of presentations utilizing PowerPoint
  • Experience contributing to the development and management of project scopes, schedules, and budgets Business development and Proposal Writing experience preferred
  • Ability to mentor and support junior technical staff Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in a dynamic and energetic environment
  • Experience with APD projects across a region or nationally is preferred

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive engineering and project management experience on large transportation projects, experience with APD projects and or resident engineering preferred
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree at an accredited institution, MS in relevant technical or management area preferred
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed or ability to get within 6 months, and the ability to get licensed in states as needed to support the assigned pursuit
