The Opportunity:Avantor is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Region Sales Director to lead a high-performing team across the state of Illinois. This individual will be responsible for managing a multi-million-dollar portfolio and driving strategic growth across key market segments, including Higher Education, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and Industrial sectors.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of sales leadership, market segmentation, and customer engagement. This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop and execute territory plans, coach and inspire a team, and build lasting relationships with key stakeholders to expand Avantor's presence and impact in the region.
The ideal candidate will be based near the Chicago metropolitan area to effectively support customers and sales teams across the state.What we're looking for:- Education: College degree or equivalent/applicable experience, required
- Experience: 2-5 years of proven leadership experience in team development and management, preferred
- This position requires a valid driver's license to perform essential functions of the role
- Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office, with preference for experience in Salesforce or Qlikview
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Several years of successful outside sales experience, demonstrating strong industry knowledge and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated success operating in high-volume, performance-driven environments while balancing strategic and day-to-day execution.
- Distribution experience and a scientific background and/or have worked in a laboratory or research environment
- Excellent presentation and coaching skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and solve problems efficiently.
How you will thrive and create an impact :- Hire, train, and set expectations with all sales associates in the region.
- Continually evaluate associate progress and performance.
- Provide formal and informal sales training to all sales associates in the assigned area.
- Develop programs and selling strategies to motivate the sales force and stimulate sales.
- Develop and maintain sound customer and supplier relations.
- Directly handle contract negotiations for key accounts.
- Prepare sales and gross margin forecasts for region territories and analyze and monitor sales data for the region.
- Monitor and manage key product sales.
- Successfully interface with internal customers and service providers such as NCO, Furniture division, Avantor Specialists, and Business Process Consultants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
