Responsibilities

What you'll be able to do:

Refrigerant Fluid Transport Core Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite. Lead global core refrigerant fluid transport weekly technical design review (TDR) interface meeting with application team and/or suppliers. Author engineering specification and foundation documents (DFMEA, DVP ESOW) for refrigerant hose and tubes, fittings, ports, electrical sensors (analog and LIN based), for topics ranging from DPA resolution, new technologies, and cascading core requirements. Capture lessons learned/PRA and develop updated test plans, requirement specifications. Hands on troubleshooting of components and related sub-system and vehicle issues. Lead weekly meetings with key supplier's core engineering. Support resolution of manufacturing issues at suppliers and VOME plants. Manage all refrigerant fluid transport SREAs. Lead benchmarking activities for commodity. Own the VOME/PD SCCAF. Support global program Durability (DURIS), AIMS, fresh eyes review and quality issues. Support and align on sign-off of all DPA 0/1 issues for commodity globally. TVM support including idea generation and review. Own refrigerant fluid transport crash safety requirement. Support application/D&R engineers to recommend design changes based on CAE results. Support VOME refrigerant evac/fill and End-of-Line related activities. Domestic and International Travel Required up to 10%.

Qualifications

You'll have...

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Designing fluid transport systems by applying design rules and requirements for hoses, tubes, fittings, and ports, including routing and packaging with crash-safety consideration. 2. Leading Technical Design Reviews (TDR) and driving cross-functional alignment with application teams and suppliers. 3. Directing technical interfaces with supplier engineering teams and Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineering (VOME) plants to resolve manufacturing issues involving aluminum tubes, hoses, and sensors, including driving technical alignment and securing all necessary formal signoffs for production implementation and process optimization. 4. Orchestrating and executing comprehensive cost and competitiveness initiatives for refrigerant fluid transport commodities, including commodity benchmarking, developing Total Value Management (TVM) concepts, and evaluation of cost-quality trade-offs to direct critical design and procurement decisions. 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Interpreting thermal and structural CAE results to develop actionable design recommendations for durability and crash safety signoffs. 2. Authoring or applying Core Engineering specifications for fluid transport and sensors, including standards expertise for MAC systems and refrigerants including SAE J639, SAE J2727, and safety considerations for R1234yf. 2 years of experience with the following skill is required: 1. Authoring core engineering documents including DFMEA, DVP, ESOW, or Design Rules, and managing supplier engineering change or approval requests for efficient development of AC line commodities.

We are offering a salary of $125,362.00 - $166,200.00/yr.
