We are looking for a
Railway Technician to support project planning, execution, inspections, and on-site coordination for rail construction activities throughout the GTA. If you're detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to gain hands-on experience in the railway industry, this role offers exceptional growth and development opportunities.
What You'll DoAs a Railway Technician, you will work closely with Project Managers, Coordinators, Engineers, Survey Teams, Quality Personnel, and Site Supervisors to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery. Your responsibilities include:
- Review construction drawings, specs, and technical documents to support project planning
- Assist in managing multiple project activities and communicating with site teams and subcontractors
- Conduct site inspections for rail installation, welding, surfacing, concrete works, and more
- Perform field measurements, geometry checks, and verify alignment; document findings for QA/QC
- Track daily progress, production, and job costs; enter data into project management systems
- Identify scope changes or discrepancies; support RFIs, change requests, and resolution plans
- Maintain organized records including drawings, revisions, permits, submittals, and field notes
- Assist with scheduling, resource allocation, and material deliveries to keep work on track
- Support QA/QC processes, including documenting non-conformances and verifying corrective actions
- Promote and document compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Submit invoices, assist with payment collection, and maintain accurate stakeholder databases
- Perform other related duties as assigned
What You Bring- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with MS Project or Primavera is an asset
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and technical information
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to anticipate needs, solve problems, and make sound decisions
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Professionalism, maturity, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Strong critical thinking and time-management abilities
Job Requirements- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
- Working toward a Project Management Certification or professional designation (asset)
- Willingness to work weekends and weeknights as required by project demands
