Job DescriptionWe have an opening for an
X-Ray Medical Assistant in the Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) Directorate, supporting the Health Services Department (HSD). This role will provide clinical x-ray services and oversite for the radiography program. This individual would also interact with patients and multidisciplinary health and safety professionals.
This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will - Interact with patients as a medical assistant including performing and documenting measurements of height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, and body fat.
- Perform and accurately document spirometry, audiometry, vision, and electrocardiogram tests as well as medical assistance in Treatment Area.
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for physical examinations.
- Ensure readiness of Treatment Area (calibrate, equipment maintenance, supplies, etc.).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities, at the 542.2 level- Provide clinical x-ray services according to applicable procedures.
- Participate in HSD Radiology Program while ensuring Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) requirements are in place.
- Responsible for maintaining the standards of the x-ray unit in accordance with State and Federal guidelines, including assisting in State audits and AAAHC audits involving the x-ray.
Qualifications- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE L-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Associate degree in health-related field or Equivalent combination of education (including certifications) and related experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and multidisciplinary health professions and represent the organization with all levels of management, using tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills including the ability to interpret data and report results.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment, exercising discretion and sound judgment.
- Willingness and ability to learn new responsibilities.
Additional qualifications at the 542.2 level- Limited California X-ray certification and experience providing clinical X-ray services, in a radiology technician role.
Qualifications We Desire- Certification in performing audiogram and spirometry medical testing.
- Certification as a Phlebotomist and certification as a Medical Assistant.
Pay Range: $34.85- $53.36/hr$34.85- $42.68/hr for the 542.1 level
$43.55- 53.36/hr for the 542.2 level
