Radiology Manager

Location: Southfield, MI (Travel Between Metro Detroit Locations as Needed)
Department: Diagnostics
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Director of Operations - Diagnostics

This role is responsible for overseeing imaging operations, staff performance, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and patient experience while ensuring efficient, high-quality diagnostic services across our radiology locations. The ideal candidate is a collaborative healthcare leader with strong operational experience, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

Department Operations
  • Oversee the daily operations of the radiology department, including workflow, scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of diagnostic imaging services, including X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and other imaging modalities.
  • Monitor department performance, patient flow, turnaround times, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with providers and clinical leadership to optimize imaging services and patient care.

Leadership & Staff Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop radiologic technologists, imaging support staff, and administrative personnel.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate department staff.
  • Build schedules that ensure appropriate staffing coverage while maximizing productivity.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with ACR, Joint Commission, HIPAA, OSHA, radiation safety standards, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Oversee quality assurance initiatives, equipment quality control, and imaging best practices.
  • Monitor department readiness for regulatory surveys and accreditation inspections.
  • Investigate operational issues and implement corrective actions when needed.

Financial & Operational Performance
  • Assist in managing departmental budgets, labor costs, equipment, and supply expenses.
  • Monitor productivity, operational KPIs, and financial performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance patient satisfaction without compromising quality.

Technology & Equipment Management
  • Ensure imaging equipment is properly maintained and functioning at peak performance.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, vendor service, and equipment upgrades.
  • Support implementation of new imaging technologies, workflows, and operational improvements.

Patient Experience
  • Ensure patients receive safe, timely, compassionate, and high-quality imaging services.
  • Address patient concerns and service recovery issues professionally.
  • Partner with providers to improve diagnostic accuracy and overall patient outcomes.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of radiology experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Current ARRT certification (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic imaging operations, quality assurance, radiation safety, and healthcare regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Advanced certifications in CT, MRI, Mammography, or other imaging specialties.
  • Experience leading imaging operations across multiple outpatient or ambulatory locations.
  • Lean Six Sigma or process improvement experience.
