As a Radiological Technologist with VCH you will:- Produce diagnostic radiographs and conduct various diagnostic procedures, either independently or in collaboration with the Radiologist and/or other physician(s).
- Apply best practice radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff and the general public and completes required documentation and administrative tasks.
- Monitor the patient during the procedures including equipment performance and maintains cleanliness of examination room.
- Maintain and advances own clinical competence by participating on committees/teams and approved research projects, as assigned.

ABOUT SECHELT HOSPITALSechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia and serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community, including Emergency care, Renal program-community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies and imaging services.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Radiography program.
- Successful completion of the CAMRT certification exam in Radiological Technology and/or certified with The Order of Technologists in Medical Imaging, Radio-Oncology and Medical Electrophysiology of Quebec (OTIMROEPMQ) in Radiodiagnosis.
- Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Broad knowledge of applicable CAMRT standards of practice and clinical practice guidelines.
- Broad knowledge of radiological technology theory and practices within a patient/family centred model of care. Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic examinations in compliance with departmental standards. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to the designated modality.
- Demonstrated ability to use clinical practice documents organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality. Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PACS, Radiology Information Systems and electronic health records (i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and effectively deal with patients and their families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
- Demonstrated ability to establish plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others. Demonstrated knowledge and ability in CPR techniques.
- Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
- General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths- based care.
- Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
