Job Summary: The Radiologic Technologist-Cardiovascular Lab (CVL) practices in a very large tertiary academic medical center with level one trauma designation, ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) receiving center designation, and comprehensive stroke center and chest pain center accreditation. Performs simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures for patients with cardiac dysfunction. Collaborates with leadership in the development of standards of care, patient, family and staff education to address the needs of this specialized patient population. Operates the physiologic and radiographic equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Ensures all patient care equipment is calibrated and that operational capabilities are tested consistent with departmental guidelines and regulations. Anticipates potential safety concerns in the environment of care and intervenes appropriately. Provides direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources. Appraises quality and effectiveness of material and equipment and collaborates with appropriate departments to assist with vendor selection and feedback on performance. Participates in educational activities, departmental committees, approved research projects and other department-related projects as assigned. Guides the professional growth of others across the continuum of care through role modeling, coaching and mentoring by designing orientation modules and serving as a primary preceptor to staff and students. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Successful completion of accredited Radiological Technology program required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum two years of cardiac or vascular catheterization or electrophysiology experience required.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to demonstrate advanced clinical monitoring of patients in CVL. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Radiologic Technologist license with fluoroscopy permit required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) license preferred.
