- Experience in OR and GI preferred.

Description:
Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs Radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician.
Performs related functions according to department protocols.
Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.
Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for examination.
Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations.
Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history, as necessary.
Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
Analyzes anatomical structure of patients, sets up equipment, and performs Radiologic procedures.
Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
Utilizes patient immobilization as needed.
May select and administer intravenous contrast media.
Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs.
Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection.
May involve shielding of patients and selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose.
Implements other ALARA techniques as necessary.
May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures.
Follows infection control practices and ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.
Follows department standards for performing patient care functions required for optimal patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, comfort, and legal/ethical rights.
Completes all necessary worksheets, logs, patient records, and documentation.
When needed, assumes responsibility for teaching or educating new hires and students while maintaining own responsibilities and duties.
Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing of images and confirming image/series counts.
Completes all study indexing, including study begin, study end, and completion of the study in the Radiology Information System.
Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing studies as necessary.
Demonstrates team member standards of excellence, including open communication, responding in a timely manner, and displaying a positive attitude.
Fosters innovation and respects diversity.
Performs all documentation in the medical record as necessary to support clinical and billing functions.
Works in the hospital environment, which may involve exposure to radiation and high-voltage equipment.
May need to lift and/or move equipment and patients that exceed 10 lbs.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
Must maintain the required hours of continued education.
Must be registered in Radiography or registry eligible.
If registry eligible, registry must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
