Job Description

The East Hawaii Health Cancer Center provides radiation and medical oncology services to patients across Hawaii Island. We are seeking an Imaging Specialist IV (Radiation Therapist) to independently perform radiation therapy treatments, simulations, treatment planning, and related procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This position works closely with physicians and the healthcare team to provide safe, accurate, and compassionate care to oncology patients across the lifespan.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform radiation therapy treatments and simulations accurately and reproducibly in accordance with physician prescriptions, treatment plans, and established protocols.
• Monitor patients during treatment, identify adverse reactions or changes in condition, and communicate relevant findings to physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment procedures, expected side effects, safety precautions, and care needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely treatment records, patient documentation, quality assurance records, treatment data, and required department statistics.
• Operate, maintain, and perform quality control of radiation therapy equipment; report malfunctions, safety concerns, and repair needs as appropriate.
• Support efficient department operations through patient flow coordination, inventory management, cross-training, continuing education, and compliance with safety, infection control, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an approved program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
• One and one-half (1½) years of progressively responsible imaging technologist/specialist experience demonstrating knowledge of imaging procedures and techniques.
• One (1) year of radiation oncology experience demonstrating the ability to perform clinical radiation oncology procedures using standard or modified radiation oncology techniques.
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiation Therapy (T).
• Current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license as a Radiation Therapist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six months of employment.

* Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

Shift Details

Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary based on hospital operations. Services are provided 24/7.
