The overall objective of the R&D Engineering Group is to develop and commercialize industrial food packaging equipment and systems that deliver value to our Customers and support the growth of the Cryovac Total Business. We deliver innovative, high performing, reliable and cost-effective equipment and automation solutions. World class innovative designs are fundamental to the goals and objectives of our group. This position will be responsible for the design, development and customization of controls, electronics, and software for industrial machinery and automated packaging systems using state of the art technology to meet stringent safety and reliability standards. Sustaining engineering is also crucial to our success managing controls component lifecycles, and supporting our Solution Center, Sales and Supply Chain business partners. Teamwork is foundational to our success at Cryovac. A strong candidate will demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills, as well as solid documentation and reporting skills. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Electrical and software design for industrial packaging equipment.
• PLC, HMI, VFD and Servo programming for new designs and support of legacy systems.
• Transforming machine behavior requirements into controls designs and layouts, followed with prototyping,
testing, and field-qualification.
• System integration of equipment and automation lines.
• Lifecycle controls management and new technology migrations.
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable product safety and regulatory standards.
• Solution Center support troubleshooting and developing solutions, with onsite travel as needed.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Software expertise with Mitsubishi PLC, HMI and Drive systems.
• Industrial equipment safety circuit design proficiency.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and collaboration skills.
• Expertise with Draftsight 2D schematic package.
• Strong conceptual, prototyping and testing skillsets.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred
• Experience designing equipment for harsh environments.
• C/C++ or similar advanced programming skills.
• Proficiency with Industrial software packages (i.e. Siemens).
• Proficiency applying UL, CSA, NEC and NFPA79 standards including but not limited to SCCR analysis.
