Responsibilities- Manage technical staff and drive R&D development projects from ideation to market implementation of new colorant formulations for internal and external partners.
- Lead and oversee multiple industrial colorant portfolios across Sherwin-Williams' critical business segments-including automotive, aerospace, industrial wood, coil, packaging, and general industrial-ensuring strategic alignment, formula integrity, regulatory compliance and timely execution of product development and commercialization initiatives to support growth and operational excellence
- Contribute to idea creation activities and proactively scout, identify, and drive new technology, product, and process opportunities. This includes monitoring of competition landscape.
- Manage an existing colorant product portfolio related to quality, regulatory compliance, cost saving, supply chain, production initiatives, and IP environment.
- Align with, update, and support the Group Director on resources, key project milestones and budget (as assigned)
- Monitoring of markets and trends related to technologies and materials.
- Collaborate with partners to deliver on opportunities for new technologies, sustainable ingredients, or process improvements.
- Supporting growth and career development for team of chemist, lab technician and scientist.
- Ensure lab practices comply with internal standards and external regulations.
- Be role model for processes and HSE activities in the R&D centers.
QualificationsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
• Must have at least 5 years of supervisory experience; 7 years preferred.
• 5+ years of product development and/or formulation experience - preferably in colorant dispersions, pigment development and/or solvent borne paint.
• Knowledge and experience of coating formulation, processing and product commercialization; fundamental knowledge of material science application for industrial products development.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
• Experience in project management with track record of successfully completed complex projects.
• People leadership skills
• Recognizes opportunities for cross-training and knowledge sharing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry
• Stage-gate leadership experience within NPD with proven track record taking products from idea to launch, with complete technical responsibility for R&D (such as prototyping, testing, manufacturing).
• Strong skills in personnel and team development - working with both non-professional and professional level reports.
