Full Job Description
Position Summary:

Plans and conducts activities concerned with compound development, raw material sourcing and supply, vendor and supplier development, and problem investigations by performing the following duties.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and document internal compound test results and identify material adjustments to maintain specification.
  • Attend weekly supplier development and quality review meetings.
  • Review supplier data to validate process changes, raw material substitutions and recipe adjustments.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to assist with root cause analysis, counter measures and corrective actions.
  • Support the plant quality engineers as needed for compound related issues.
  • Prepare reports to communicate results of compound related testing
  • Assist in creating standard work instructions.
  • Perform compound testing using equipment such as RPA, MDR, and MV viscometer.
  • Create required test specimens using equipment such as rubber test extruder, "slab" test press, standard mold press, lab mixer, lab mill, and lab ovens.


Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
  • Experience in rubber compounding or processing is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A team player, capable of working cross-functionally to determine practical solutions to operational issues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities, supplier, and or customer locations when required.
