Full Job Description
As a research and development analyst senior on the new Small Business Insurance Underwriting Analytics team, you'll make critical contributions to the strategic direction of Business Owner's Policy (BOP) portfolio management, 3rd party data research, and improving underwriting segmentation. This role is a unique balance between research and recommending new ideas to improve product offerings and developing models using actuarial-based techniques.

Remote work allowed with travel to the Progressive Headquarters for team events 3-4 times per year.

Minimum qualifications
  • A minimum of six years relevant experience in statistical/quantitative modeling and in using various database tools to manipulate large volumes of structured data in a product, pricing or actuarial role in property & casualty insurance
  • {OR} Bachelor's degree in quantitative field and a minimum of three years analytical work experience in a product, pricing or actuarial role in property & casualty insurance.
  • {OR} Master's degree in quantitative field of study and a minimum of three years analytical work experience.
  • {OR} PhD in quantitative field of study.

Preferred skills
  • Product, pricing, or actuarial experience in property & casualty insurance.
    Experience creating or modifying predictive data models using statistical, mathematical or data mining methods
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL or related statistical programming language (SAS, R, or Python)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively to keep projects moving and hit critical deadlines.

Compensation
  • $89,600 - $119,500/year depending on position level and experience
  • Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
