Kleinfelder is seeking a dynamic leader to join our growing Seattle’s Construction Services Practice. 

 

Do you like working with a high profile, successful, and growing team with a solid and growing backlog of the most challenging projects in the Region?  Do you thrive in a fun, active, performance-based environment?  Kleinfelder is excited to expand Seattle’s team and is actively seeking the right candidate to join us.  This position is responsible for leading a group of well-trained inspection/testing, and project professionals, managing projects, and actively working with clients to deliver complex programs/projects in Seattle’s Area.  Responsibilities will include, working with other project managers in directing our Quality services professionals during execution of mid to large scale programs, and ensuring that our team has the tools, skills, opportunities, and mentorship to take us to the next level. 

 

The successful applicant will have the ability and desire to build strong teams working collaboratively to fulfill the needs of the firm as well as provide technical support and leadership. Additionally, the successful applicant will have local knowledge of the industry and the demonstrated ability to develop successful programs. 

 

This applicant will engage local staff to execute a Construction Quality Services business plan, provide consistent, high quality, professional Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET) and construction support services in accordance with Kleinfelder guidance principles (mission, vision, values) and commensurate with expectations established for quality, risk management, profitability, client service, safety, and timely delivery.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, promote, champion and engage staff to execute a local CoMET Services business plan
  • Provide consistent, professional services in accordance with quality, client service, safety and timely delivery
  • Understand CoMET and construction services business drivers and Project Management methodology
  • Provide technical support and leadership for local project/client development and execution
  • Provide for continued professional development, technical growth and coaching for CoMET staff
  • Manage project materials sampling and testing, interact with clients and stakeholders and provide testing and inspection oversight
  • Oversee inspector performance and Quality Assurance deliverables
  • Approximately 50% of time oversight of field testing and inspection functions
  • Field training of personnel
  • Conducting training sessions for field staff

 

Experience:

The candidate shall meet one of the following qualifications: 

  • Licensed Professional Engineer; an Engineer-In-Training; or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction, or related degree; and at least four years of highway materials testing experience; or 
  • Certification by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies in the Construction Materials Testing field as an Engineering Technician (Level III) or higher, with at least four years of experience in the appropriate subfield in which sampling and testing is being performed; or 
  • A minimum of eight years of highway materials testing and construction 

Also required:

  • Field inspection/testing
  • Personnel management
  • Group/team leader experience
  • Previous experience in materials and soils lab supervision or management required
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead project teams and mentor and develop staff
  • Knowledge of field testing procedures and laboratory testing procedures required

 

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

 

Education:

Bachelor degree in Civil, Materials Engineering or Construction Management preferred, or equivalent industry experience. Professional Registration preferred but not required.

 

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Scale Disclosure Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $106,252 - $136,200 annually.
