Description

Role Description:

In this position you will be reporting directly to the Director of Quality and will be responsible for driving quality in machining/assembly. You will lead improvement initiatives to ensure product compliance with engineering speculations in all phases of engine manufacturing, test and dispatch. You will use sound Lean Six Sigma quality engineering principles and strong leadership skills to guide, mentor, develop & support team members to successfully execute measurable first-time product quality as a key enabler to productivity improvement and overall customer satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and development of direct reports on the quality team in machining or assembly
  • Lead PFMEA & Control Plan development activities to ensure robust manufacturing processes
  • Work collaboratively with Product Platform leaders and product and manufacturing engineers to support resolution of field complaints by applying needed corrective and preventive actions as necessary in the production value stream
  • Work collaboratively with supplier quality management to protect the facility from inbound supplier quality issues
  • Support ongoing quality system development and process audit activities across the plant
  • Lead 8D problem solving reporting for customer complaints and other internal non-conformances
  • Lead Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) projects as needed to solve manufacturing pain-points
  • Develop and maintain department budget for operating and capital expenditures
  • Work collaboratively with functional operations leaders to ensure product quality issues are solved in a timely manner while protecting customer product delivery dates

Technical Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a preference in Engineering or equivalent educational background with work experience in an industrial environment or (7+ years of relevant experience)
  • Solid Lean, continuous improvement and root cause analysis background with prior process improvement assignments
  • Familiarity and experience with ISO 9001 & TS/ IATF16949 quality systems
  • Green Belt in Six Sigma with a solid understanding of Lean principles
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Familiarity with product Quality and Reliability methodologies including, MTBF, FMEA, Causal Effects Analysis, 8D, 5 Whys, etc.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, customer focused, enthusiastic
  • Strong customer orientation and sense of urgency and a growth mindset
  • Team player with proven mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire others and drive change within the organization to meet team goals/objectives
  • Proven facilitation and team leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively across functions, prior experience in developing and leading a team or significant multidisciplinary project
