Full Job Description
This role will lead the Quality Function and Activities within Farmington Hills plant. Provide clear leadership for the development of an environment focused on Quality. Develop quality-process links with customers in line with the Quality Management systems, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Controls Plans, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) processes and oversee continued compliance and embedding across the business. Responsible for maintaining relationships with customers and suppliers to maximize profit potential and ensure efficiency. Manage the audit program as well as supplier development and improvement and play a key role in ensuring project deliveries. Work proactively with all Directors, Managers, Supervisors and Employees, to maintain a program of continual improvement within their areas of responsibility. Lead a 'correct at source' and problem-solving methodology (Lean). Lead the team to achieve quality targets for customers and business goals.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Quality Department: Create the best practice quality vision, oversee day-to-day operations, mentor team members, and drive operational performance improvements
  • Develop and implement quality control protocols: Create inspection, sampling, and testing procedures for incoming materials, components, and finished products
  • Ensure compliance: Maintain adherence to standards such as IATF 16949, AIAG, and customer-specific requirement and ensure QMS compliance and ensure production follows all processes & procedures called out in the control plans. Ensure that all in-house systems and procedures are updated, revised and modified to meet the needs of external certification bodies
  • Oversee corrective actions: Track and report on customer satisfaction metrics (PPM, PRR, NCT, QR) and ensure timely resolution of quality issues following fast response protocols. Respond to customer complaints putting in containment actions, full analysis, poka-yokes (error proofing), and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams: Work with production, engineering, and supplier teams to identify and resolve quality problems helping to lead the problem solving methodology.
  • Manage supplier quality: Conduct audits, monitor performance, and ensure supplier compliance
  • Maintain documentation: Ensure all quality records, certifications, and databases are accurate and up-to-date
  • Support product development: Integrate quality standards early in the design and development process (APQP, PPAP)
  • Drive continuous improvement: Implement root cause analysis, scrap reduction, and first-time quality initiatives
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Quality activities
  • Act as a point of contact for warranty issues for any programs sold in NA
  • Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns in new customer contracts
  • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the Quality strategy

Skills & Abilities:
  • Familiarity with electrification highly desired
  • Proficiency in quality tools (SPC, FMEA, 8D), automotive systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead teams, manage performance, and influence cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Analytical skills: Strong data analysis and reporting abilities to identify trends and improve processes.
  • Industry familiarity: Experience with Tier 1 supplier operations, OEM relationships, and automotive certification systems.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with IATF16949, ISO, and AIAG requirements
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading and engineering applications

Ability to speak Chinese preferred

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical or business field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive industry
  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Manager role
  • Experience working at a manufacturing facility
  • Familiarity with CMM, lab equipment, and check fixtures

Environmental Requirements

Our manufacturing facility is a climate-controlled environment. There is no long-term exposure to dangerously loud noise or extreme temperatures.

Attendance Requirements

All hourly team members are expected to report to work and be ready to work at their scheduled start time. It is required that they adhere to and follow the attendance policy(ies).

All salaried team members are expected to perform their duties/responsibilities in a timely manner. Although they may not have set schedules, they are expected to either be at work on a schedule agreed upon by their manager or be available via phone/text/Teams if working remotely (only for applicable positions).
