Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the facility's Quality function at the manufacturing facility and ensuring products, processes, and systems meet CPM, customer, and applicable regulatory requirements. This position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and other departments to prevent and resolve quality issues, improve manufacturing processes, reduce scrap and rework, and drive continuous improvement.

The Quality Manager is expected to be a visible, hands-on leader who promotes quality, accountability, collaboration, and problem-solving throughout the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Quality department providing direction, coaching, development, workload prioritization, and accountability for team members.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the facility's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with CPM standards and customer requirements.
  • Partner with Operations and other functional leaders to establish quality expectations and ensure quality is integrated into daily manufacturing activities.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor to identify concerns, support employees and supervisors, and resolve issues at the point of occurrence.
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, work instructions, and CPM quality standards through appropriate inspection and testing processes.
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate key quality metrics, including scrap, rework, nonconformances, customer complaints, cost of poor quality, and corrective action performance.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of internal and external quality issues, including nonconforming material and customer complaints, using root cause analysis, containment, corrective action, and follow-up.
  • Maintain quality procedures, work instructions, control plans, inspection processes, records, and other required documentation.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Purchasing to address supplier quality and performance concerns.
  • Coordinate and participate in internal, customer, supplier, and third-party audits and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Identify quality trends and recurring issues and work cross-functionally to implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Provide quality-related training and support to strengthen quality awareness, ownership, and accountability throughout the facility.
  • Build effective working relationships across departments and CPM locations to share best practices and support organizational initiatives.
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance, responsiveness, and results.
  • Promote collaboration and effective problem-solving across Quality, Engineering, Operations, and other functional areas.
  • Develop employees through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate CPM's expectations for professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Education and Experience:
  • Five or more years of progressive quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with customers and suppliers to resolve quality concerns.
  • Experience in fabrication, assembly, or similar industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality principles, inspection methods, and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization and with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and influence results across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with ERP and/or quality management systems.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

This position operates in both an office and manufacturing environment and requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor. The employee may be exposed to noise, moving equipment, varying temperatures, and other typical manufacturing conditions. Appropriate PPE must be worn as required.
The position may require regular standing, walking, bending, and reaching, and occasional lifting, in accordance with facility requirements.
