We have an opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Hanover Park, IL team. You will report to the site Quality Manager and will aid in providing leadership for the Quality team in the resolution of problems and continuous improvement of product, processes, and the Quality management system. The Quality Engineer will aid in the development and implementation of systems and processes that promote the prevention of internal and external failures, and will assure compliance to internal, customer, and third-party regulatory standards and requirements. The Quality Engineer will ensure manufacturing processes are capable of meeting requirements, as well as define process steps to maintain the company and plant quality system.

You will:

  • Implement and manage effective process and product controls to ensure first time product quality.
  • Resolve daily in-process quality issues for assigned value streams.
  • Evaluate and monitor raw material, in-process, and finished good components against customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead investigation and resolution for internal nonconformances, customer product quality complaints, and supplier quality concerns using disciplined problem-solving techniques (8D, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Facilitate and manage continuous improvement teams to improve safety and drive down cost of quality metrics (DPPM, scrap, cost of poor quality, etc.).
  • Capture and maintain Quality scorecard metrics and recommend improvements with the goal of transitioning the organization from a reactive to a proactive culture.
  • Develop and lead internal product/process quality audit system, including closing out audit findings and reporting results to upper management.
  • Design systems for recording and analyzing product quality levels and interpret and report trends and improvement plans as part of the Quality Operating System.
  • Utilize statistical data to identify and resolve safety and quality problems, and lead initiatives that focus on problem prevention and variance reduction.
  • Create, modify, and implement sampling plans, quality standards, and process control instructions.
  • Review and establish PPAP requirements for product/process changes and new product development.

Key Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
  • Leaning manufacturing experience required.
  • Proven success in utilizing formal problem resolution tools (8D, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Experienced in utilization of Excel and Minitab (or equivalent) for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Working background in ISO9001, with auditor experience.
  • Have experience in utilizing the AIAG core requirements (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC; highly preferred).
  • Self-directed with outstanding troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $71000 - $131800 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
