Full Job Description
Director of Quality for North America

Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, North America, this critical leadership role will oversee all aspects of quality assurance and quality control, ensuring exceptional product performance, customer satisfaction, and compliance with industry standards.

The successful candidate will be a transformational leader with deep automotive experience, a strong engineering background, and a passion for continuous improvement. They will champion a culture of quality excellence, drive enterprise-wide improvements, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class results for our customers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Management System:
  • Build and elevate a best-in-class Quality Management System (QMS) that serves as the foundation for operational excellence, delivering consistent quality performance that meets internal and external standards and regulations.
  • Set the standard for quality across North America by driving compliance with IATF 16949 and other key industry standards across all locations.

Strategic Quality Leadership
  • Be the driving force behind quality excellence across North America.
  • Champion and execute a bold quality vision across all North American locations, inspiring teams to raise the bar on performance, accountability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Turn quality into a competitive advantage by leveraging Cost of Quality (COQ) metrics to identify opportunities, eliminate waste, and drive operational efficiencies that deliver measurable business results.
  • Partner closely with plant leadership to set ambitious quality objectives, align strategies with organizational goals, and create a culture where continuous improvement thrives.
  • Lead transformational quality initiatives that strengthen processes, elevate product performance, and ensure every location delivers best-in-class results.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to operational leaders, fostering collaboration and driving a unified approach to achieving world-class quality standards.

Quality Assurance and Control:
  • Oversee quality assurance processes, including inspections, audits, and testing protocols, to ensure product conformity.
  • Solve problems at the source by driving root cause analysis and corrective actions that create lasting improvements and prevent recurrence

Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead breakthrough improvement initiatives that enhance quality, boost efficiency, and deliver measurable business results.
  • Foster a culture of quality throughout the organization, encouraging employee engagement and participation in quality improvement activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

Training and Development
  • Build world-class quality capabilities by developing and delivering engaging training programs that elevate quality awareness, strengthen technical expertise, and empower teams at every level.
  • Champion a culture of structured problem-solving by expanding organizational capability in tools such as A3, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and other proven continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop quality leaders across all locations, ensuring consistent execution of best practices and a shared commitment to quality excellence.

Customer Engagement
  • Serve as the trusted voice of quality for customers, building strong partnerships, resolving challenges, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to anticipate customer needs, exceed expectations, and deliver best-in-class quality performance.
  • Strengthen customer confidence by driving proactive communication, rapid issue resolution, and a relentless focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of proven quality leadership experience within the automotive or manufacturing industry, with a strong focus on quality assurance and control.
  • Demonstrated success with Transforming quality management systems leveraging People, Process, and Technology solutions paying specifical attention to formal Problem Solving capabilities
  • Professional certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Black Belt, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, quality management systems, core quality tools, and automotive industry best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business decisions.
  • Proven ability to influence, engage, and lead cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the willingness and ability to travel regularly to plant locations, supporting teams where the work happens and driving continuous improvement firsthand.
  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with formal problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, 5 Why, Fishbone, RCA) and the ability to train, coach, and drive problem-solving excellence across multiple manufacturing locations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting the manufacture of exterior injection-molded automotive components, including painted and chrome-plated products.
  • Strong knowledge of customer-specific requirements and quality expectations across multiple OEMs.
  • Experience partnering directly with major automotive OEMs, successfully managing customer relationships, performance metrics, audits, launches, and issue resolution.
  • Proven success leading quality improvement initiatives in multi-site manufacturing environments.
