This is a hybrid position located in Chesapeake, VA.

Job Overview

The Quality Assurance (QA) position is responsible for ensuring work is performed in accordance with applicable contract requirements, technical specifications, drawings, procedures, and company quality standards. The QA employee will monitor and document work activities, perform inspections, identify and report deficiencies, and support corrective actions to ensure quality requirements are consistently met.The position will work closely with project management, supervisors, technicians, welders to maintain compliance, resolve quality issues, and ensure required documentation and records are complete, accurate, and properly maintained.

Salary: $40.00 - $50.00/Hr

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:
  • Perform inspections of work, materials, equipment, and completed installations to ensure compliance with contract requirements, drawings, specifications, procedures, and applicable standards.
  • Review work packages, drawings, specifications, procedures, and other technical documentation for quality requirements.
  • Verify that personnel are performing work in accordance with approved procedures and customer requirements.
  • Solve technical problems.
  • Identify, document, and report quality deficiencies, non-conformances, and deviations.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation, checklists, and reports.
  • Review and verify required documentation, certifications, test results, and inspection records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure measuring and test equipment is properly calibrated and maintained as required.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions when quality issues occur.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and assist with responding to audit findings.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by management

Key Responsibilities:
  • The QA position is accountable for ensuring all work is performed in accordance with contract requirements, drawings, specifications, approved procedures, and applicable quality standards.
  • Ability to verify workmanship and materials, identify and document deficiencies, ensuring corrective actions are completed, maintaining accurate quality records, and supporting inspections, audits, testing, and customer acceptance activities.
  • Accountable for communicating quality issues to management and field personnel, preventing rework and non-conformances, and ensuring completed work meets company and customer requirements.
  • Keeping managers apprised of progress, issues, and planned efforts of each assigned task using effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance within 12 months of hire date
  • Must have a High School diploma
  • Must be willing to travel up to 75% CONUS/OCONUS
  • Must be willing to work extended hours including weekends and holidays
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • 5-year proven experience in quality control/assurance within the USN/USCG electronic system maintenance and installation industry
  • Must have a strong proficiency in quality control tools and methodologies while demonstrating excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and pre-hire drug screening.

Working Conditions:
  • Shipyard Industrial, outdoor exposed to weather, working from heights, working around grinding/welding, climbing, and working from ladders, working in spaces that may not be climate-controlled.

Physical Requirements:
  • Climb ladders, work in hot, cold, and inclement weather.
