Responsibilities

  • Ensure project QC activities have necessary documentation on site
  • Review subcontractor quality plans for compliance
  • Inspect work to ensure it meets contract and design specifications
  • Interpret and understand project drawings and specifications
  • Implement and manage the Three Phase Control System
  • Prepare daily quality control reports and detailed meeting minutes
  • Track and approve materials using the Submittal Register
  • Document deficiencies and manage corrective actions
  • Oversee material inspections and ensure compliance with approved submittals
  • Coordinate and document third party testing and special inspections
  • Document results of all tests conducted
  • Facilitate the completion inspection process and manage project closeout
  • Mentor and coach junior team members

Full Job Description
Overview

Are you looking for a highly rewarding opportunity that provides extensive career growth opportunity? Gilbane is seeking a Quality Control II to manage the QC processes and activities for DoD construction projects.

 

Responsibilities
  • Assure all project-related work plans and project-specific documents necessary for performing project QC activities are onsite
  • Review subcontractor quality plans for compliance to requirements
  • Inspect work conformance to contract and design documents
  • Understand drawings and specifications
  • Implement the Three Phase Control System
  • Develop daily quality control reports, prepare and issue detailed meeting minutes, and assist with post construction reports
  • Use Submittal Register to track and assure required materials are approved in a timely manner.
  • Manage in-depth technical reviews of submittals against design documents
  • Proactively initiate deficiencies and non-conformances documentation, and monitor and verify corrective actions
  • Stop work if necessary to resolve matters that affect safety, quality or non-compliance with design documents
  • Verify materials received are same as those identified in approved submittals and complete material receipt inspection checklists
  • Coordinate, witness, and document 3rd Party testing, special inspections, and commissioning of building systems
  • Document all tests and results
  • Coordinate and document completion inspection process
  • Manage a timely project closeout to include compilation and turnover of all required documents
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members 
  • Supports a positive and inclusive work environment 
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • BS OR MS degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management
  • 7 years construction experience; 2 years as QC Manager
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel user
  • CMAA Certification preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

For (Arlington, VA) this ranges from $83,000-$104,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
