We are looking for a Quality Assurance Lead located in Tampa, FL.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Associate degree or equivalent experience may be accepted.
- High school diploma with extensive airport construction experience may also qualify for senior inspectors.
Preferred Certifications/Licenses:
- Certifications such as AWS, ICC, ACI, ASNT, or similar QA/QC-related credentials preferred.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction QA/QC Inspection Services, including 3 years on major airport, transportation, or similarly complex capital projects.
- Familiarity with FAA guidelines, airport design and construction standards, and relevant building codes.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, means and methods, and the ability to interpret plans and specifications.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, maintain thorough QA documentation, and ensure compliance in a large program environment.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience with Design-Build or CMAR project delivery is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience representing an Owner or Owner's Representative on public agency projects.
- Working knowledge of airport operations, TSA/FAA regulations, and security coordination.
- Proficiency in Quality Assurance documentation systems such as Procore, e-Builder, or Primavera Kahua.
- Experience developing or refining a Quality Assurance Program.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage QA staff.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead representative for QA on behalf of the airport owner, supporting the delivery of safe, compliant, and high-quality construction.
- Review and monitor contractor Quality Control (QC) programs and QA/QC documentation for conformance with project specifications, FAA standards, and airport authority guidelines.
- Conduct independent QA inspections, audits, and surveillance on construction materials, workmanship, and system installations across terminal and airside/landside facilities.
- Verify that all quality-related activities are in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality manuals, and construction documents.
- Coordinate with design-build teams, contractors, and testing agencies to resolve non-conformances, track corrective actions, and close out deficiency reports.
- Develop and maintain QA logs, inspection reports, and other documentation to support monthly progress reporting and close-out packages.
- Support commissioning and turnover processes, ensuring quality records are completed, signed off, and submitted in accordance with contractual milestones.
- Working knowledge of airport construction phasing, maintaining operations (MOT), and construction activities in active airport environments.
- Experience reviewing structural shop drawings, submittals, requests for information (RFIs), material certifications, mill test reports, and inspection test reports.
- Ability to identify non-conforming work, document deficiencies, and verify corrective actions in accordance with project specifications.
- Participate in QA/QC meetings, readiness reviews, and stakeholder walkthroughs, representing the interests of the Owner.
