Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a QA/Test Engineer (Survivor Portal) to support automated and manual testing for the secure Survivor Portal, a cloud-based system designed to deliver survivors and family members access to case information, consent workflows, events, and support resources. The QA/Test Engineer will validate system functionality, ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity and accessibility standards, and maintain test traceability through all stages of Agile development and deployment. 

 

This position ensures system reliability and performance across multiple AWS GovCloud environments, supporting iterative releases and continuous improvement. 

 

This position is fully remote. 

Duties & Responsibilities

The QA/Test Engineer (Survivor Portal) will: 

  • Develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test scripts that ensure functionality, performance, and compliance of Survivor Portal features. 
  • Maintain traceability from business and functional requirements through test cases and deployment validation to ensure completeness of verification. 
  • Participate in Agile sprint testing, including backlog grooming, story acceptance, and regression testing for incremental releases. 
  • Create and maintain a test management repository that aligns user stories to validation evidence and test results. 
  • Support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) by integrating test automation pipelines with build and deployment tools. 
  • Conduct API and integration testing to ensure secure data exchange between the Survivor Portal and backend systems. 
  • Validate accessibility compliance (Section 508/WCAG) and usability in coordination with UX designers. 
  • Document, report, and track software defects and performance issues using Jira or similar tools. 
  • Support load, stress, and security testing to ensure portal resilience under varying user and data loads. 
  • Collaborate with developers and system engineers to identify and mitigate issues early in the release cycle. 
  • Perform post-deployment validation (PDV) to ensure system readiness and confirm operational continuity across environments. 
  • Contribute to sustainment testing, verifying successful patch deployment and configuration changes. 
  • Provide quality-related input for Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) and lessons learned. 
Qualifications

Clearance Requirement:  

  • Must hold an active Secret clearance. 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software quality assurance or test engineering for enterprise applications. 
  • Experience supporting federal or defense Agile DevSecOps programs. 
  • Proven success implementing automated testing frameworks in CI/CD environments. 

Technical Knowledge: 

  • Proficiency with Selenium, Postman, or Cypress for automated and API testing. 
  • Experience with test case management tools (Zephyr, qTest, or TestRail). 
  • Familiarity with Agile software development and DevSecOps testing integration. 
  • Experience in AWS GovCloud or equivalent secure cloud environments. 
  • Understanding of DoD cybersecurity standards, DISA STIGs, and RMF compliance. 
  • Knowledge of load and performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, or similar). 

Certifications (Preferred): 

  • ISTQB Certified Tester or Certified Software Tester (CSTE). 
  • CompTIA Security+ CE (DoD 8570 baseline). 
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent. 

Skills: 

  • Exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. 
  • Excellent teamwork and communication across Agile teams. 
  • Ability to identify risk areas early and ensure continuous quality improvements.
