Description
The Purchasing Director leads Corvant's enterprise-wide purchasing and supply chain strategy for the HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical materials, equipment, and subcontracted services that support our mission-critical commercial and industrial projects. This role owns vendor strategy, cost control, and supply continuity risk management, and partners closely with Operations, Project Management, and Finance to ensure the right materials arrive at the right place, at the right time, at the right cost. This position may be based in either the Atlanta, GA or Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area. Candidates must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, one of these locations.
Requirements
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
• Develop and execute enterprise-wide purchasing strategy for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, materials, and subcontracted labor
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate agreements with key suppliers and manufacturers, including national/regional pricing agreements
• Build and maintain a resilient, diversified supplier base to protect against material shortages and lead-time volatility
• Lead high-value contract negotiations and manage supplier relationships at the executive level
Cost Control & Budget Oversight
• Own the purchasing budget and drive company-wide cost savings and cost avoidance initiatives
• Monitor commodity and material market trends and proactively adjust sourcing strategy in response
• Partner with Finance and Estimating to ensure accurate material cost forecasting for bids and projects
• Establish and monitor purchasing policies, approval thresholds, and spend controls
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, coach, and develop the purchasing team, including Purchasing Managers, Buyers, Purchasing Agents, and the Supply Chain Analyst
• Set team goals, performance standards, and career development plans
• Build organizational purchasing capability and bench strength to support company growth
Risk Management & Compliance
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks that could impact mission-critical project timelines
• Ensure purchasing practices comply with company policy, contract requirements, and applicable regulations
• Develop contingency and expediting plans for critical, long-lead-time, or single-source materials
Cross-Functional Partnership
• Partner with Project Management, Operations, and Field leadership to align purchasing with project schedules
• Provide purchasing and market insight to support estimating, bidding, and business development
• Report on purchasing performance, cost savings, and supply chain risk to executive leadership
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field required; MBA preferred
• 10+ years of progressive purchasing/procurement experience, including 5+ years in a purchasing leadership role
• Experience in HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, or construction industries strongly preferred; mission-critical/data center experience a plus
• Proven track record negotiating high-value supplier and vendor contracts
• Strong working knowledge of ERP and procurement systems
• Excellent analytical, budgeting, and forecasting skills
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional influence skills
